State League;
On Saturday our State 5 men had a Visit from the top side Keilor Wolves for their round four match up. Missing Jake Romein and Gus Martin due to injuries and Ryan Rykers the young team had to step up….. and step up they did. The wolves scored in the 16th minute…. but that was the only goal scored for the match. Our boys were brilliant for the whole match. Special mention to Brody Hocking, Josh Duffy and Luke Hodgson who played great games. Final score 0-1.
The Reserves was also a fantastic contest with the exact result as the seniors. a 0-1 loss.
Three of our first four matches have been against three of the top four sides from 2019.
The woman played their first League match on Trekardo on Sunday and we were all anxious to see how they would go…… Well look out State league 3 west teams because BSCW are here.
The visitors were Caroline Springs George Cross FC.
Half time score was 4-0
Full time score was 6-2
Goal scorers Alyson Pym 3, Lucy Brennan 1, Meg Brennan 1, Jess Sheehan 1. Well done ladies on a great league debut.
Local Seniors;
Our Division 1 men had a round one bye
Division 2 men took on Creswick at Trekardo.
Creswick had us 0-2 down at half time but some inspirational words from coach Garz at half time brought out a change and we scored two goals. Creswick managed a third goal though to take the points 2-3.
Brendan Hawks scored one.. The other was scored by our div 1 Keeper Luke Madden who converted a penalty he received from a rough tackle. The celebration was world cup class. Good on you Madz.
Our Local women played their very first competitive match as a team. They were lucky enough to play on the Stadium pitch at Morshead against Bacchus Marsh and got the 3 points with a 1-0 win. Sadie North scored our goal. Well done girls.
Juniors;
Was great to see junior soccer being played on our pitches again. A sight that has been missed by many. Due to a glitch in the team sheet system i am unsure who scored goals
Under 17 squads played an interclub friendly on Pleasant Street. We mixed up the 23 girls and boys into 2 teams and played 2 x 30 min halves. Was good fun.
Junior girls had a forfeit from Ballarat City. The city girls were happy to borrow three of our girls just to play a little friendly against us so Kudos to them.
Under 15 Ballarat SC Lost to Creswick 0-3 on Trekardo
Under 15 Ballarat Red beat Vic Park 8-3. It was a great round 1 win.
Under 13 got beaten by BNUSC over at Russell square 1-2.
That’s the Wrap from Wazza.
